It has taken just shy of four years, but the agonising wait is finally almost over. Within weeks, every Briton will be able to establish how much they will receive from the new "flat-rate" state pension.
We knew it would be roughly £155 a week and would require 35 years of National Insurance contributions. But questions remained: what of those who had "contracted out" of the top-up system, for example? Would they still get the full whack, despite paying less into the National Insurance fund?
